Neither Danielle (clue 1) nor Jeremy (6) is the freshman, so either Chad
or Tanya is. Then the Stanford University student can't be the member
of the freshman class (2). Neither the Rice (1) nor Northwestern (3)
student is the freshman either, so the child who goes to Duke is.
In clue 1, then, since the Stanford student didn't give the coffee
mug as a gift (8), Danielle is the Stanford student; and Dad got a
Northwestern University coffee mug from one child. By clue 6,
Jeremy attends Rice. The child who gave Dad a baseball cap isn't
at Duke (4) and isn't Danielle (7); Jeremy gave his father a baseball
cap. Since Jeremy must be at least a junior (3, 6), then Chad can't
be a freshman or Jeremy would be a sophomore (4). Tanya is the
freshman at Duke, and Chad is at Northwestern. Chad isn't the junior
(4); he is the sophomore and Jeremy the junior (4). Senior Danielle
gave her dad a key ring and Tanya gave him a seat cushion (5). In
sum, Mr. Pere received Father's Day gifts as follows:
- Stanford key ring from senior Danielle
- Rice baseball cap from junior Jeremy
- Northwestern coffee mug from sophomore Chad
- Duke seat cushion from freshman Tanya
