the same sum. By clue 8, the lowest-priced jack-o'-lantern sold for $40,
while the five together brought the Art Club $330. By clue 1, Jamie's
jack-o'-lantern cost twice as much as Karloff's, while by clue 6, the
jack-o'-lantern Lisa carved sold for twice that of the one with the
ghost theme. If the two clues overlap, either Lisa is Karloff or Jamie
carved the ghost jack-o'-lantern. If Lisa were Karloff, then letting
the ghost jack-o'-lantern sell for the low of $40 would make Lisa's go
for $80 and Jamie's for $160 (clues 1, 6)--a total of $280, leaving $50

give sales figures of $40, $80, $90, and $100 for a total of $310, making
the fifth sale $20 (8)--a conflict with clue 8. Similarly, if Stein were
Lisa and the ghost jack-o'-lantern sold for the low of $40, combining clues
6 and 2 would give sales figures of $40, $80, $90, and $100--the sum of $310
then making the fifth carving a $20 sale, no (8). Stein must have carved
the ghost jack-o'-lantern. By clues 2 and 6, Lisa couldn't have done the
skeleton pumpkin, since the minimum difference between Lisa's and Stein's
creations must be $40. If Jamie had done the skeleton jack-o'-lantern,
Karloff would have raised $40 for the club, Jamie $80 (1), Stein $70,
Billy $90 (2), and Lisa $140 (6)--a conflicting total of $420 (8). So,
Karloff carved the skeleton-themed pumpkin. Then combining clues 1, 2,
and 6, Stein's jack-o'-lantern sold for the least, $40, Lisa's went for
$80, Karloff's skeleton carving sold for $50, Billy's work brought in $60
and Jamie's creation brought $100 to the Art Club. By clue 4, Charlie
carved the ghost jack-o'-lantern; Debby is Karloff. By clue 7, Lisa is
Lugosi; and Billy's jack-o'-lantern theme was Count Dracula. Lisa's
jack-o'-lantern had the black cat motif and Jamie's the witch (3).
