at 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30 each night Monday-Friday; at each time,
Elvis will be in a different one of five mall locations, while in a time slot
for the week he will also be at a different one of the five spots. By clue 1,
on Thursday, Elvis will appear consecutively at the Egyptian Theater lobby,
Gepetto's Toy Store, and the Christmas tree. Therefore, he will be performing
at the theater lobby at 6:30, 7:00, or 7:30. If he were scheduled for the
theater lobby at 7:00, the toy store at 7:30, and the Christmas tree at 8:00,
by clue 5, he would be at the Palm Fountain at 7:30 on Wednesday and at the
theater lobby at 7:30 on Friday. By clue 2, however, the day after he is at
the Palm Fountain at 8:00 he will appear at the Christmas tree at 8:00 would
put Elvis at the Palm Fountain at 8:00 on Wednesday, a contradiction. So,
Elvis isn't set for the Egyptian Theater lobby at 7:00 on Thursday in clue 1.
If Elvis the Elf were scheduled to be at the theater lobby at 7:30 on Thursday,
followed by the toy store at 8:00 and the Christmas tree at 8:30, he would be
slated to appear at the Palm Fountain at 7:30 on Tuesday and at the toy store
at 7:30 on Wednesday (clue 5). By clue 2, Elvis would be appearing at the
Palm Fountain at 8:00 on Monday and at the Christmas tree at 8:00 on Tuesday.
By clue 3, he would be performing on Tuesday at Gepetto's Toy Store at 6:30
and at Yummy Food Court at 7:00. His 8:30 appearance on Tuesday then would
be at the theater lobby, which it isn't (4). So, Elvis the Elf isn't set
for the theater lobby at 7:30 on Thursday. On Thursday, Elvis can be seen
at the Egyptian Theater lobby at 6:30, at Gepetto's Toy Store at 7:00, and at
the mall Christmas tree at 7:30. By clue 5, the entertainer's 7:30 time
will have him at the Palm Fountain on Monday, the toy store on Tuesday, and
the theater lobby on Wednesday; by elimination, Elvis will be at the Yummy
Food Court at 7:30 on Friday. By clue 3, on Tuesday, Elvis the Elf will
appear at the food court at 8:00 and at the Palm Fountain at 8:30. Since he
will be at the theater lobby at 6:30 on Thursday, on Tuesday Elvis will be
at the theater lobby at 7:00 and at the Christmas tree at 6:30.
Since he will be at the mall Christmas tree at 7:30 on Thursday,
by clue 2, Elvis will be at the Christmas tree at 8:00 on Friday and at the
Palm Fountain at 8:00 on Thursday. By elimination, his Thursday food court
appearance is set for 8:30. Since Elvis will be at the toy store at 7:00
on Thursday, by clue 6, on Friday he will be at the toy store at 6:30 and
at the Palm Fountain at 7:00. By elimination, his 8:30 Friday performance
will be at the theater lobby. The 6:30 Palm Fountain appearance must be on
Wednesday; by elimination, then, Monday's 6:30 performance will be at the food
court. The 7:00 food court appearance then will be on Wednesday. At 7:00
Monday, Elvis will entertain at the Christmas tree. Since the theater lobby
appearance is at 8:30 on Friday, the theater lobby performance on Monday
will be at 8:00--followed by an 8:30 toy store event. On Wednesday, Elvis
will be at the toy store at 8:00 and at the Christmas tree at 8:30. In
sum, Elvis the Elf will appear at Summerset Mall this week in order each
day at 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30 as follows:
