From the introduction, two women (Carolyn, Erica) and three men (Alex, Brett,
and David) found new jobs. By clue 1, Headhunters "R" We placed Erica
one day before placing Mr. Levin and two days before placing the sales
representative in new jobs. By clue 8, the job-search firm found a new
position for Mr. Nash one day before placing David. Clues 1 and 8 can be
combined in three ways: Erica was placed on Monday and Mr. Nash on Thursday;
Mr. Nash was placed on Monday and Erica on Wednesday; or Mr. Nash is the
sales rep. If Erica were the one who got a new position on Monday and
Mr. Nash on Thursday, Mr. Levin would have been placed on Tuesday, the sales
rep on Wednesday (clue 1), and David on Friday (8). Carolyn would have been
the Wednesday success. Then Mr. Nash's new position would be with AE Games
(7)--no (10). If Mr. Nash were the one who was placed Monday and Erica
placed Wednesday, David would have been placed on Tuesday (8), Mr. Levin
on Thursday, and the sales rep on Friday (1). Carolyn would be the sales
representative--but the new AE Games employee would have been placed on
Saturday (7). Therefore, combining clues 1 and 8, Headhunters "R" We
placed these people on consecutive days: Erica, Mr. Levin, Mr. Nash as a
sales rep, and David. By clue 7, Carolyn can't have followed David into a
new job or there would be six placements; Carolyn was placed the day
before--thus Monday--Ericafound a new job with AE Games on Tuesday. By clue 9,
Mr. Levin now works at tell Computers, and Brett is Nash. By elimination,
Mr. Levin is Alex. By clue 4, Carolyn is the computer scientist and Erica
Kellogg. Alex isn't the senior manager (2) or executive assistant (3);
he is the elctrical engineer. Then by clue 5, Carolyn now works for
Macrosoft. Brett was placed with Symbolic Systems and David as an
executive assistant (3). By elimination, David is now with Krump
Properties, and Erica is the senior manager. Finally, Carolyn's last name
is Mendoza and David's Jones (6). In sum, Headhunters "R" We placed the
five into new positions as follows:
- Mon.: Carolyn Mendoza, computer scientist, Macrosoft
- Tue.: Erica Kellogg, senior manager, AE Games
- Wed.: Alex Levin, electrical engineer, Tell Computers
- Thu.: Brett Nash, sales representative, Symbolic Systems
- Fri.: David Jones, executive assistant, Krump Properties
