| From the introduction, the Jones sextuplets were seated in the 1st row
in seats 1A, 1B, and 1C from window to aisle left of the aisle and 1D, 1E,
and 1F from aisle to window right of the aisle. By clue 5, Jenny sat
across the aisle from the girl who ate the Necco Wafers. By clue 8, Jana sat
on one side of the plane between her sister who read Tuck Everlasting
on the flight and her sister who had the Jujubes. Jana then sat 1) next to
Jenny with Jenny having the Jujubes and the sister on the other side of Jana
reading Tuck Everlasting; 2) next to Jenny with Jenny reading Tuck
Everlasting and the sister on the other side of Jana enjoying the Jujubes;
or 3) next to the sextuplet having the Necco Wafers, who would have read
Tuck Everlasting, with the sister on the other side of Jana having the
Jujubes on the flight. Trying 2) first, by clue 2, Jessica would have sat
between her sister having the Necco Wafers--and reading Sarah, Plain and
Tall--and the one eating the Good & Plenty on the trip. By clue 9, since
Jana didn't read Hatchet (clue 1), Jill would have read Sarah, Plain
and Tall and Jessica Hatchet. Since the septuplet who read My Father's Dragon
didn't eat the Jujubes (6), Jana didn't have the Dots (10); nor, by clue 10,
did Jenny. Jessica would have had the Dots, with the girl who ate the
Good & Plenty reading My Father's Dragon (10). She would be Joanna
(7)--by clue 6, no. So possibility 2) fails. Trying 3), By clue 2, Jeesica
would have sat in the center seat next to Jenny, who would have read Sarah,
Plain and Tall or eaten the Good & Plenty. If Jenny had read Sarah,
Plain and Tall, the septuplet on the other side of Jessica would have
eaten the Good & Plenty. Since Jana didn't read Hatchet (1), by clue 9,
Jill would have sat in the window seat next to Jessica, who would have read
Hatchet. Then Joanna would have sat in the window seat next to Jana
(3) and Julia next to Jana in the aisle seat--no (7). If Jenny had eaten
the Good & Plenty, the girl in the window seat next to Jessica would have read
Sarah, Plain and Tall. Since Jana didn't read Hatchet (1),
by clue 9, Jill would have sat in the window seat next to Jessica, who would
have read Hatchet. Then again Joanna would have sat in the window
seat next to Jana (3) and Julia next to Jana in the aisle seat--again, no (7).
So, 3) above also fails and by clue 8 we have Jana next to Jenny with Jenny
having the Jujubes and the sister on the other side of Jana reading Tuck
Everlasting. By clue 2, Jessica sat in the other middle seat, with her
sister next to her in the window seat having the Good & Plenty and her sister
having the Necco Wafers reading Sarah, Plain and Tall. Since Jana
didn't read Hatchet (1), by clue 9, Jill must have read Sarah, Plain
and Tall, with Jessica having read Hatchet. By clue 3, Julia read
Tuck Everlasting, so Joanna sat in the window seat next to Jessica.
By clue 11, Jana ate the Tic-Tacs. Since Joanna didn't read My Father's
Dragon (6), by clue 10, Jana did, with Julia eating the Dots. By
elimination, Jessica ate the Hot Tamales. By clue 4, Joanna read Harriet
the Spy and Jenny A Wrinkle in Time. Joanna's window seat wasn't 1F
(3); Joanna sat in 1A, Jessica in 1B, Jill in 1C, Jenny in 1D, Jana in 1E,
and Julia in 1F. In sum, the sextuplets flew back from Thanksgiving at
Grandma's as follows:
