Since Brett didn't buy shorts at Mike's Sporting Goods (5), by clue 9, the shorts
would have been bought at the 2nd store visited, Brett would have purchased
something at SF Gear 3rd, and the pretzel would have been the 3rd Food Court
item he ate. By clue 8, Brett would have eaten French fries just before he
was in SF Gear--a conflict with clue 3. Super Bowl Sports wasn't the 4th
store in which Brett bought soccer gear. If Super Bowl Sports had been the
3rd store visited, Mike's Sporting Goods would have been 1st. By clue 5,
Brett didn't get the shorts at Mike's Sporting Goods. Then SF Gear would

would contradict clue 9. Therefore, Super Bowl Sports was the 1st store Brett was
in on Saturday, with the pepperoni pizza the Food Court item he enjoyed right
after the Super Bowl Sports buy and the sweatshirt being his 2nd purchase (10).
By clue 6, Brett didn't buy the sweatshirt at SF Gear; therefore, the pretzel
wasn't the 2nd thing Brett ate (9). The cinnamon roll also wasn't the 2nd
thing Brett ate (1), so the French fries were, followed immediately by the
visit to Champions (3) as the 3rd store Brett visited on his shopping trip.
By clue 9, then, SF Gear was the 4th store Brett was in; and that visit was
followed immediately by a pretzel from Uncle Hughie's. By elimination, Brett
ate the cinnamon roll between his visits to Champions and SF Gear. Mike's
Sporting Goods was the 5th store Brett visited, and the Locker Room was the 2nd
store he was in (8). Then the first item of soccer gear Brett bought was new
cleats (4). He bought new shorts at Champions (9), bought shin guards at
SF Gear (2), and finally got a new headband at Mike's Sporting Goods. In
